How We Met

It was early 2016 when a mid-teens girl walked into a small chiropractic business. She spoke to the hard working licensed massage therapist. There she learned that this LMT didn’t just work hard, she relaxed by playing video games! At each meeting she gathered information, took notes and returned home to tell her brother about all she had learned. A few weeks later, she shared with the LMT that her brother was seeking a gaming friend. Piqued with interest, the adventure began. They communicated through video game chats and text messages. The two of them played into the late hours of the night, enjoying each other's company online. Now intrigued, he called the spa and booked a massage.

Sean walked in, was greeted by the receptionist, and waited nervously in the lobby. Around the corner, Lillie spotted him sitting quietly. She smirked, surprised that his sister convinced him to show up. She took a deep breath…. he was just a client. Upon greeting him, he stood, towering in front of her. This situation was probably one of the most absurd and awkward ways to meet in person. How would anyone think this was going to lead somewhere? Sean was there as a client, and Lillie introduced herself professionally. In the massage room, she informed him how to get ready for his first massage. Outside the room, Lillie gathered her nerves, walked in and began the massage. It did not take long for something to click. Their conversation diluted the awkwardness between them. Thus, their relationship began.

3 years later, Sean and Lillie continued to enjoy playing video games. They also loved watching anime and enjoyed going to the anime conventions in Tampa. It was at one of these conventions that Sean orchestrated with his family to set up a surprise; decorating the hotel room where they were staying. Upon entering the room, a path of rose petals led to the bedroom (Yeah… get your mind out of the gutter). Ribbons were strung from the top of the door frame. Balloons were scattered throughout the room. Shocked by the lovely romantic scene, Lillie was focused on getting her phone to take pictures. She was oblivious to the balloon's message, “Be My Waifu,” (the anime term for wife). Lillie turned to Sean and their eyes met (literally because on his knees, strangely enough, they're about the same height). Oblivious no longer, she happily said yes to being his “waifu.” Since their engagement, they are still playing video games and watching anime. Now, they are excited to share their love and commitment with friends and family on November 1st.
